Artistic Swimming
Artistic Swimming at NP Varedo Tradition and Passion since 1988
Artistic Swimming at NP Varedo is a historical reality that has been raising generations of athletes with passion, competence and a healthy environment since 1988. A unique discipline that combines dance, swimming, artistic gymnastics and acrobatics, requiring technique, strength, endurance, coordination and great team spirit.
Our section offers two routes:
• Competitive Sector
Aimed at Regional and National Championships, with a structured technical course and constant commitment.
• Propaganda sector (FIN and UISP)
With a lighter technical and time commitment, designed to make all athletes compete in circuits appropriate to their level and growth.
Why choose NP Varedo
• A story that gives security
Since 1988 we have been a landmark in the area: a solid and organised club with a long sporting tradition.
• Values before results
We believe in sport as an educational path. Respect, discipline, cooperation and personal growth come before the exasperation of results.
• Qualified and up-to-date coaches
A competent technical team, trained and constantly updated on national and international regulations, capable of following each athlete with professionalism and attention.
• An ideal installation
The Lido Azzurro Swimming Centre offers perfect space and depth for the technical and choreographic development of modern artistic swimming.
• Integrated acrobatic preparation
Thanks to the collaboration with Polisportiva Ginnastica Artistica Varedo, the athletes do dry training dedicated to acrobatics.
For female athletes in the competitive sector, this preparation is structured, continuous and a fundamental part of the technical course, indispensable for tackling modern artistic swimming with greater strength, control and quality of execution.
A History of World Enterprises
The Lido Azzurro swimming pool was built in 1972. These early years also saw the birth of Nord Padania Sub, a company that made a decisive contribution to the development of aquatic activities in the area and the growth of top-level athletes and technicians.
The Lido Azzurro soon became the protagonist of feats that went around the world: in 1973 Peppo Longhi set the 103-hour diving record, while aquatic marathons such as the Pavia-Venice consolidated the facility's fame. In 1975 came another feat destined to remain in history: the world record set by Peppo Biscarini, who was able to swim 81 km, a record that is still unbeaten today.
The tradition of excellence continues in pure swimming and finswimming, taking athletes and coaches from Nord Padania - including our managers Valter Mazzei, Anna Di Celie and Alberto Rota - all the way to the national team and to the top of the world, with champions such as Stefano Figini and Lorenzo Caronno.
The Age of Synchro: From Beatrice Adelizzi to Today
1988 marked the official entry of synchronised swimming into our reality. In over thirty-five years we have written important pages for Italian sport.
Our greatest pride is Beatrice Adelizzi, the first Italian athlete in the discipline to win the historic bronze in the Solo Libero at the 2009 World Championships, in addition to European bronze medals and an extraordinary 6th place at the Beijing Olympics.
His legacy has been picked up by many athletes, including Silvia Vismara, former NP Varedo athlete, national and international medallist with the Italian national team and now coach.
The Future: from Nord Padania Sincro to NP Varedo
In 2014, after decades of activity under the name Nord Padania Sincro, the section opened a new chapter, officially becoming NP Varedo. A natural step, the result of the evolution of the society and the desire to renew itself while maintaining the passion “handed down from drop to drop”.
In recent years, the technical staff has been further enriched with figures such as Silvia Vismara (former NP athlete, national and international medallist with the national team), Marta Boga (former NP athlete and medallist at the Italian Girls' Championships), Sara Rossetti and Martina Tiraboschi (both former synchro athletes and now masters), and Irene Cantoro (former NP athlete and now masters).
These skills are complemented by the collaboration with Polisportiva Ginnastica Artistica Varedo, fundamental for acrobatic preparation.
Today we follow 42 female athletes, accompanying them towards ever more ambitious goals.
In these 54 years, many people have grown up and returned to this facility, which, despite its years, continues to renew itself. We are a fixed point for the promotion of Sport and Health, ready to face the challenges of the future with an unchanged goal: to make our athletes grow respecting their time, in the water and in life.
